About Us
In 1968, African American students at the University of Connecticut, like many African American students across the country, united to demand an increase in African American faculty and staff, and the establishment of the Afro-American Cultural Center. As a direct result of their protests and demonstrations, the African American Cultural Center was founded. The H.F.S.- A.A.C.C. settled into the ground floor of the Student Union in 1982. The Center consists of a large community room, conference room, television lounge, student office, newsroom, and administrative offices.
